Welcome!

This here thing is called a weblog, or blog for short. Maybe you knew that already. If so, that’s a good introduction to WorldWideWeber. Chances are you’ve already thought of everything that will appear here, in which case the entries will serve as pleasant reminders of how insightful you are.

If a novel idea happens to show up in this blog, I apologize in advance.

This is a bogus comment just to show what a comment looks like (as if you didn’t know).

Let’s see if it’s smart enough to insert a line break. (I mean, two line breaks).

The answer is yes, it is.

Can I reply? or do I need to be registered?

Tim: It’s kinda complicated. It all depends on how I configure the blog. Right now anyone who finds this thing can post a comment. It won’t show up right away, however — a moderator needs to approve it. There are Byzantine variations on this — e.g., a registered user might be moderated for their first two posts, after which their posts show up immediately.

Right now most of the settings are defaults. It’s going to take a while to get the hang of this. But WordPress is so vastly superior to the previous free blogging system I tried, it’s breathtaking.
